Your LifeTalk Insider #89
The Weekly Newsletter for IFAs, Financial Planners and Financial Advice Professionals

Welcome back…
From LifeTalk and the Adviser Growth Community this week:
Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to LifeTalk Insider - Let’s get stuck in…
👉 Just honest conversations with fellow advisers who understand your world.
That’s it. That’s the magic.
In a profession that’s constantly evolving, staying connected with peers isn’t a luxury - it’s a smart move. So we’re excited to be opening up a second LifeTalk Meetup group, starting 1st July and running monthly.
It’s a space for thoughtful discussion, and sharing challenges and ideas that actually move you and your business forward.
No pitches. No pressure. No providers. Just proper conversations.
And what’s said in the room stays in the room - Chatham House Rules apply. And only members of each group can access the session recordings.
If you’d like to join the next wave, season 2 starts on 1st July. Send me an email to [email protected] if you have a question - or you can reserve your place right now at LifeTalk Meetup Groups.
"They’re great sessions. Would highly recommend to other advisers."
Matt, LifeTalk Meetup Group member
Rob and 31 others: Is anyone already using a lifestyle and health based life expectancy calculator to try and accurately determine clients' life expectancy, rather than this 100 years old rubbish?😅 Click…
Rachel and 6 others: One of my clients has dementia and her son has power of attorney. He lives in Australia and Lloyd’s won’t offer him online or telephone banking. We need to find somewhere for funds to sit that he can access to pay the care home fees.
We were going to use insignis but funds can only be sent to her bank account which he then can’t access. Any ideas? Click…
End LinkedIn Paralysis. Get seen. Get clients.

Martin and 7 others: I would be interested in hearing from people who have managed to remove themselves as the principle adviser in their business without making clients feel relegated or let down? Click…
Eugenie and 47 others: Consolidating pensions when there's a super cheap workplace pension involved. I've got a consolidation exercise on the go, 5 paid up pensions. About £350k in total.
One of them is an L&G Worksave pension (Marks and Spencer scheme) with an AMC of 0.06% with all the bells and whistles, apart from huge fund range. I am considering recommending they all go into that one. It'll be off piste for me as I've not organised transfers into a L&G Worksave pension before. Am I crazy? Click…
Martyn and 14 others: A friend has aked me to speak to a relative about the pros and cons of becoming an adviser. She fancies a change of career in her 40s. I can obviously give my view and experience but I’m sure this has been mentioned here before so interested to see people’s views and resources available and who to contact/ academy options? Click…
Steven and 4 others: Have many people had the email/letter from our beloved regulator, “Advanced notice of an FCA mandatory information request to firms providing financial advice”? I’m just trying to establish if this is a mass market thing, or targeted firms?
On a side note, the tone of the email is horrible!!! Click…
Ian and 12 others: There has been much debate in recent days around software licensing. Advisers only please to answer this question. Which model do you think is fairest? Click…
Mark and 5 others: If someone is in local authority funded care due to cash balance being below £23,250 when assessed, but bank balance increases above the threshold, are they then expected to self fund? Click…
Emma and 6 others: Is there anywhere I can find a calendar of industry events/conferences over the year? I’d like to attend as many as possible, I’ve noticed it’s hard to keep up with all of them. Click…
Phil and 6 others: Cracking session today with our monthly financial adviser mastermind and meetup group. We got properly stuck into the big stuff – AI, new business models and what the future might look like beyond the usual day-to-day demands of advice and planning work.
Are you part of a peer group – in-person or online? Meeting regularly with other advisers can be game-changing. It’s a space to air challenges, find inspiration and (perhaps most importantly) talk to someone who actually understands what you do for a living.
Our next group opens 1st July - learn more…
Roshni and 12 others: We are a very small adviser firm; one adviser and one paraplanner. We're looking to take on a newly qualified adviser in a few months but don't have the experience or resources to put together a T&C program from scratch. Are there any well-structured T&C programs that we can subscribe to, that will help get our newbie to CAS? Click…
👉 Artificial intelligence is reshaping how financial advisers operate - but with so many AI solutions out there, it’s hard to know what actually works in practice.
Session 3 of our AI for Advisers series is with Rob Tedder of PlannerPal. June 12th at 2pm.
In the series we're talking with AI leaders in the financial advice space to uncover where they see AI heading within the profession and to get insights into how advisers can make better use of it.
So far we have chatted with Posterity and AdvisoryAI and so we're very much looking forward to meeting Rob.

Rohit and 16 others: I have some low value clients with £50,000 in their overall holdings. Platforms like Transact charge a significantly higher fee.
Are there other reasonably priced alternatives for these kind of clients? Click…
