Your LifeTalk Insider #83
The Weekly Newsletter for IFAs, Financial Planners and Financial Advice Professionals

Welcome back…
From LifeTalk and the Adviser Growth Community this week:
Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to LifeTalk Insider - Let’s get stuck in…
Poll: Where are you in your financial advice career? Click…
Phil and 60 others: Last week I met three different financial advisers:
* One who has been an employed adviser for the last five years but who has recently gone self-employed and directly authorised.
* One who is going out on his own and is about to start his first year.
* And one who asked me to completely refresh his marketing from scratch.
As you can see, they all have something in common. Which got me thinking - what would I do myself if I was just starting out as an adviser and had to be responsible for my own lead generation? What would I do in year 1?
If you're a new adviser or someone who is looking for a complete refresh there are certain things that will give you a big bang for your buck. I've written a short paper on the steps you should take and if you would like to see it, click here and you can just have it.

Paul and 33 others: How are other firms calculating and justifying their sustainable withdrawal rates in cashflows (evidence based research)? I have seen firms using 6% plus of starting value rising with inflation on a deterministic (linear) basis. Click…

Jen and 42 others: I am going round in circles and lost in an AI black hole!!!! Struggling to find straight answers, I know this has been asked and asked and asked but, forgive me, I’m going to ask again… Click…
Sophie and 8 others: Sorry if this is a really stupid question - tax year end jelly brain is real. Met with two clients yesterday - AIM portfolios were down 57%. Should I reinvest in BR, would the 2 year clock start again? I feel like it wouldn’t but need to double check
Also any reasons for not reinvesting in BR given IHT cut on AIM? Click…

Philip and 10 others: I have a client with an offshore bond, which she doesn’t need for her own purposes any more. It has made a nice gain. Clients children live in Australia. Does anybody know how the gain would be taxed on the children if client assigns the bond to them and then they encash it? Click…
Scott and 8 others: Are there any industry figures on average clients per adviser, employee or paraplanner? Figures such as paraplanners needed per X number of annual reviews or new business cases.
I'm trying to assess the efficiency of my own practice vs others vs the industry as a whole. Click…
Anthony and 19 others: We don't use offshore investment bonds very often, but they are right sometimes, and we have a scenario now. We have been having terrible experience with administration from both Reassure and Canada Life. We need to look at alternatives because those 2 companies are so dreadful. I wonder has anybody had recent experience with Prudential International, Standard Life international or RL360 please. If we can improve on a 43 working day turnaround time that would be a start! Looking for open architecture too! Click…
Paddy and 28 others: an existing client has emailed to say "The reason I have contacted you is that I have just been told that they have started, today, the consultation process to make me redundant. I really do need some advice as to how to handle this"
My first thought is that their is little we can suggest pre redundancy, our involvement would be when they know their settlement figures and how it would be structured. How would you respond? Is there anything we should be suggesting?
Client is not in a leadership or "high" position within the org. Click…
Martin and 13 others: How would a client declare tax due on savings interest if they are retired, in receipt of a pension and pay income tax due via PAYE please?
Do they have to do anything? How do HMRC know how much interest they have earned or whether it exceeds their Personal savings allowance? Click…
