Welcome to LifeTalk Insider #8

From the LifeTalk forum week ending 23rd June

Jordan and 10 others: Cash vs Equities for medium risk investors... Now that we're seeing 5 year fixes over 5%, I'd typically be modelling for around 5-6% average annual returns for a multi-asset fund. Question…

Bill and 18 others: Does anyone have a list or know where to find out easily what pension providers will allow / accept a partial transfer from fully crystallised funds? Click…

Donna and 18 others: What's the thinking with annuity rates now, are they bound to increase with an interest rate rise but if we see a rate rise, is this just as likely to hit fund values (adversely) too? Click…

Brian and 11 others: Just came across this financial planning software - anyone looked at it? Click…

Stella and 16 others: Want to simplify my working life… Can anyone recommend a back office system - currently using IO but not using half of it! Click…

Jill and 27 others: Left Quilter's nearly two years ago now and just received a phone call asking why I left ? Would I be interested in joining again with the new proposition. Click…

Andrew and 40 others: My wife controls my work diary and books all my appointments in for reviews which makes life a lot easier for me. A colleague is trying to do everything by himself but doesn’t want to employ an assistant. Question…

Brad and 35 others: Charging & TCF question… I have a self employed individual who has approached me because they have always been self employed and never paid into a pension. They would like me to set one up and I'm not sure how I should charge for it. Question…

Claire and 33 others: I'm looking at salaried adviser posts and would be really helpful to have an idea of typical packages offered, where taking over an existing book of business. I'm chartered. Someone yesterday offered £60K basic, validation 4 x salary, with 35% bonus above validation, 5% pension - I thought this seemed a bit low. Question…

Post of the Week

Donna and 42 others: Universal Credit help please.

Client is in receipt of State Pension but wife in receipt of UC. They have very little in cash savings, he has cancer (as does his wife) but he is still working. He has £6600 remaining in PCLS and a pension fund of around £70K. If he draws PCLS under £6k will this be ignored for UC? If he takes income through FADD will that count for UC? If he takes it as annuity will it count for UC? He has previously drawn PCLS and I advised him to check that with DWP (UC) but it was used to clear debt so would possibly have been ignored by them anyway. Question…
